The Association for City, Regional and State Planning eV (SRL) is a professional association of the spatial planners listed in the association name. The association was founded on April 26, 1969 in Bonn and is based in Berlin.

The Association for Urban, Regional and State Planning e. V. represents as a professional association, the interests of approximately 2,000 members from the fields of urban planning , regional planning , regional planning , regional planning , regional planning , transport planning , landscape planning , architecture , geography , ecology , urban engineering, agriculture , law , sociology , economics , administrative sciences ; as well as students who are completing a corresponding training course. Only natural persons can become members.

The SRL is a professional association contact especially for federal , states and municipalities . It is involved in all legislative procedures on planning law and gives its political opinions in the run-up to parliamentary deliberations or as part of the association's participation. In addition to statements on planning laws, ordinances and decrees in the narrower sense, the SRL also articulates itself on legislative proposals that affect the professional field of spatial planners, such as real estate tax reform or the reform of federalism .

structure

Externally, the SRL is represented by the executive board; this consists of seven elected members and the managing director. The professional association pursues its substantive work in thematic forums, working groups and project groups. The SRL is organizationally divided into nine regional groups.

Regional groups

At the level of the federal states, the members of the SRL have come together to form regional groups, each of which develops its own program that corresponds to the specific interests of the members and regional problems. The regional groups currently exist in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin / Brandenburg, Bremen / Lower Saxony, Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein, Hesse / Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony / Saxony-Anhalt / Thuringia. The elected speakers represent the regional group at state level vis-à-vis other institutions such as the chambers of architects and planners, the state associations of other professional associations and, in particular, vis-à-vis the state government.

Within the regional groups, planning meetings such as the “Hanover region planning meeting” have been formed in various regions. The members meet here on a regular basis to discuss topics of general interest and to visit projects and plans relevant to urban development in the region.

Trade journal

For technical information, the SRL gives the “planner. Trade journal for urban, regional and state planning ”. In this, the association reports on the regional group meetings, the planner meetings and all other regional commitments. For the editorial work, the SRL has appointed a volunteer editorial team of currently seven members. The magazine appears with around 72 pages in six issues per year on different topics.

Meetings

The SRL has been holding specialist conferences since 1970, which are intended to enable members and other interested specialist planners to exchange experiences. The annual meetings are held in October / November and are supplemented by the half-year meetings in May or June. The conferences are public.
