Tobias Vethake

Tobias Vethake (born February 21, 1975 in Gütersloh ) is a German musician and composer .

biography

From 1995 to 1999 Tobias Vethake studied school music at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, majoring in violoncello . From 2000 to 2005 he worked as a film music composer at Boyd Musik , first in Hamburg, then in Berlin. During this time he set numerous television, film and advertising music to music. Together with Julian Boyd and Simon Ayton he is u. a. responsible for the soundtrack for the movie Muxmäuschenstill . From 2004 Vethake also works as a theater music composer at various city theaters in Germany, including the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg , the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Theater Bremen .

At the same time, he founded the blankrecords label in 2004 , on which he has so far released around 15 albums in which he played a major role. In the process, musical collaborations have come about with Sasha Pushkin, Jan Hupe, João Orecchia, Johannes Döpping and Dave Cohn ( Serengeti ), among others . Tobias Vethake's solo project is called Sicker Man . At Sicker Man, Vethake works regularly with the Berlin singer and musician Kiki Bohemia, who is also on stage for the live implementation of the project. Tobias Vethake's musical focus is on live looping , analog electronics, violoncello , improvisation and the combination of classical composition , soundscapes and songwriting .
