Togdheer (river)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Togdheer (Somali: Wabi Togdheer , from tog for "river bed" and dheer for "long") is a seasonal water-bearing river in northern Somalia ( Somaliland ).

The river begins in the foothills of the Golis mountains, runs south through Burao and ends in the plains to the east of Togdheer and to the north of Sool . The river bed is mostly dry, but is flooded after heavy rains in the mountains. The Togdheer region is named after the river.
