The folds of toilet paper in hotels is a common practice in hotels worldwide, indicate to the host that the bathroom was cleaned.

Typically, folding is done by making a triangle or “V” pattern from the first sheet of toilet roll. Often the two corners of the first sheet are tucked symmetrically behind the paper so that there is a point at the end of the roll. But more sophisticated patterns such as sailboats and even flowers are also made in this way, which is also called toilet paper origami or toilegami.

distribution

The process is practiced by hotels around the world, as noted by British photographer Stephen Gill, who published a book of pictures of folded toilet paper from various countries.

reasons

According to David Feldman, the purpose of the process is to signal to the customer that his hotel room has been cleaned. Feldman said that statement came from all of the numerous large hotel chains he contacted.
