Tokihiro Nakamura ( Japanese 中 村 時 広 , Nakamura Tokihiro ; born January 25, 1960 ) is a Japanese politician and governor of Ehime Prefecture .

Nakamura graduated from the Law Faculty of Keiō University in 1982 and then became an employee of Mitsubishi Shōji . In 1984 he switched to politics and was elected to the prefectural parliament of Ehime. In the Shūgiin election in 1990 , he tried to change to the national level as an independent, but only achieved the fifth highest percentage of votes in the three-mandate constituency Ehime 1. In the 1993 election , he landed as a candidate for the New Japan Party in third place and moved into Shūgiin for one legislative period. After the electoral reform, he was narrowly voted out of office for the New Progressive Party in 1996 in the new constituency Ehime 1 against the former Post Minister Katsutsugu Sekiya ( LDP ).

In 1999 he returned to local politics when he ran against the incumbent mayor of Matsuyama , Seiichi Tanaka , who had replaced Nakamura's father Tokyo as mayor in 1991 . Nakamura won and was clearly re-elected in 2003 and 2007, only against one Communist candidate. During this time he was, among other things, Vice-President of the National Conference of Mayors and advisor to the Ministry of General Affairs .

After Governor Moriyuki Kato resigned prematurely in the summer of 2010 , Nakamura resigned from the mayor's office in October to apply for Kato's successor. He managed to win the support of all parties with the exception of the communists, the employers' associations and the Rengo trade union federation . He decided the election on November 28, 2010 with more than 450,000 votes against two other candidates and is thus elected governor of Ehime for four years.
