Tokunbo , actually Tokunbo Akinro , is a German-Nigerian soul, jazz and pop singer and singer-songwriter.

Tokunbo is the daughter of a Nigerian and a German and lived in Nigeria until the age of ten and then in Germany. From 1998 to 2013 she was the singer of the soul acoustic band Tok Tok Tok , which released thirteen albums and received five German Jazz Awards . Then she started a solo career. She describes her music as folk noir .

Her debut album Queendom Come was released in 2014, and in 2018 her second album The Swan (Yoruba Girl / Soulfood) followed, which she financed in part with crowdfunding and on which she worked for two years. Ulrich Rode (guitar, keyboards), Christian Flohr (bass), Matthias “Maze” Meusel (drums, percussion) and Anne de Wolff (strings, trombone, vibraphone, accordion) were also involved.

She teaches singing at the Hanover University of Music .
