Tom Curry (born June 16, 1998 in Hounslow , London ) is an English rugby union player . He plays as a winger for the England team and the Sale Sharks .

childhood and education

Curry attended the Oundle School in Northamptonshire and played rugby there under coach John Olver , who is his uncle and former England international. There he was discovered and nominated for England's U18 selection.

Career

Curry first appeared in October 2016 at the age of eighteen in the European Champions Cup for the Sale Sharks, opponents were the Scarlets . He was the youngest debutant of the Sharks in the club's history. In the same month he was used for the first time in the English Premiership , scored a try and became the third youngest player of all time to score points in the English championship. At the end of his first season, he and his twin brother Ben Curry received the Young Professional of the Year award.

National team

Curry made his national team debut against Argentina in June 2017 at the age of 18 years and 360 days. He was England's youngest debutant since Jonny Wilkinson and the youngest winger ever in England's national team history. He made his first attempt at the Six Nations 2019 against Wales . In the same year he was nominated for the world championship .
