Thomas William "Tom" Fox (* 1951 in the USA , † 2006 in Iraq ) was an American peace activist.

As a representative of the Christian Peacemaker Team in cooperation with Iraqi human rights organizations, he carried out peace work in Iraq for two years until his death. The CPT are one of the few aid organizations still active in Iraq.

He was previously involved in peace missions in Palestine . A practicing Quaker for 22 years, he was committed to educating the American people about the horrors of war and its impact on normal Iraqi families as a result of US policy. Fox had previously worked as a grocer. He was the director of Quaker youth programs and summer camps for children.

He was kidnapped on November 26, 2005 in Baghdad along with three other activists from the Christian Peacemaker Team. They were Norman Kember (74), Harmeet Singh Sooden (32) and James Loney (41). The kidnappers threatened to kill all hostages if the US does not release all Iraqi prisoners in the US and Iraq by December 8, 2005. They later extended their ultimatum to December 10th. On December 10, Katherine Fox reached out to the kidnappers with a message saying that she and her father believe the Iraqis have legitimate fears about the US presence in Iraq.

On March 7, Al-Jazeera broadcast a video showing the other three hostages, but not Fox. On March 10, the State Department announced that Fox's body had been found. On March 23, the three other hostages were freed by British soldiers.

Fox lived in Clearbrook , Virginia .
