The archipelago Tomaronisia ( Greek Τομαρονήσια ( n. Pl. ), Also Tokamakia, Tomaria, Aspronisia or Lefke Nisi ) is located in front of the small port of Agios Stefanos northeast of Lesbos in the Strait of Lesbos (Στενό Μυτιλήνς is part of the administrative district in the Aegean Sea Mandamados .
The Tomaronisia consist of the four flat, poorly vegetated and uninhabited islands Aspronisisa, Barbalias, Panagia and Tsoukalas as well as three rocky islands. The water depth varies between 4 and 30 meters. The clean waters around the island in connection with the shipwrecks of the Second World War offer ideal conditions for species-rich fish stocks with saw bass as well as various sea bream , bream and many other species. That is why the islands are popular with fishermen and divers and are increasingly used as anchorage for sailing ships because of the beautiful white beaches. Due to their geographical location and the prevailing winds from the northeast, the islands are not always easily accessible.
Because of the occurrence of the coral gull , the archipelago and the surrounding marine area were classified by the bird protection organization BirdLife International as part of the 1.50 km² Important Bird Areas GR 136 Tokmakia Islets (Νησίδες Τοκμάκια).
