The Tomaschewitsch I-110 ( Russian Томашевич И-110 ) was a single-seat fighter from the time of the Second World War .

development

In 1942, during his imprisonment in his KB-29 design office in Siberia , Dmitri Tomaschewitsch developed a fighter and fighter bomb aircraft that differed considerably from the production aircraft of the time. Because of the high bomb load and the very strong armor, it had a very high mass. The aircraft had a special cooling system with a very noticeable, large air inlet under the propeller. At the end of 1942, test pilot Pyotr Stefanowski took off for the first flight with the type known as the I-110 . It showed some very good flight characteristics, but the series production was not ordered because both the airframe and the engine would have resulted in a complete change in production, which the tense war situation did not allow.
