Tomasz Napoleon Nidecki

Tomasz Napoleon Nidecki (also: Nidetzki , born January 2, 1807 in Studzianka , † June 5, 1852 in Warsaw ) was a Polish composer .

biography

Nidecki studied at the Warsaw Conservatory from 1822 on with Alojzy Stolpe piano, with Józef Bielawski, violin and with Wilhelm Würfel, and from 1824 to 1827 with Józef Elsner composition. From 1829 to 1831 he continued his education as a scholarship holder of the Polish government at the Vienna Conservatory.

From 1833 to 1838 he was the conductor at the theater in the Leopoldstadt. In 1839 he made his debut as a conductor at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw and in 1840 succeeded Karol Kurpiński as first conductor and opera director. He led here u. a. Vincenzo Bellini's Norma , Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Don Pasquale , Friedrich von Flotow's Martha and Giuseppe Verdi's Ernani . He was also active as a church choir conductor and music teacher.

In addition to several operettas, Nidecki has composed orchestral works, piano music, songs and church music, including masses, a cantata and an Ave Maria.
