Tomohiro Nishikado , (Japanese: 西 角 友 宏 ; * 1944 in Ōsaka , Japan) is a Japanese video game developer .

After graduating from Tokyo Denki University Department of Communication , Nishikado became a game developer. In the 1970s he first developed the video game Speed Race for Taito and then a video game in which he initially wanted to depict a fight against an army. After concerns by Taito, however, inspired by the film Star Wars developed in the United States, he changed the scenario to an attack by aliens and named the game Space Monsters . However, based on a suggestion from Taito's marketing derivative, the company's management decided three months before the game was released to rename the title Space Invaders . Since the artwork for the machine cabinet was already fixed at this point, the original monsters can still be seen on the machine's side.

After 1982 Nishikado worked as a hardware developer . On March 10, 1996, Nishikado left Taito and founded Dreams, Inc., where he still works as president.
