Georg Gustav Gerdes

Georg Gustav Gerdes (born January 8, 1709 in Wismar , † 1758 in Stettin ) was a German lawyer and historian. He published several writings on the state history of Mecklenburg and Pomerania .

Life

Georg Gustav Gerdes was the son of Joachim Henning Gerdes († 1725), secretary at the Upper Tribunal Wismar . He studied at the University of Helmstedt , where he received his doctorate in law in 1732 . In the same year he became a lawyer and procurator at the high tribunal. After becoming senator in 1743, he went to Stettin in 1744 as royal Prussian judicial advisor and city syndicus .

Between 1736 and 1744 he published a collection of sources on Mecklenburg regional history in Wismar. In Greifswald , where he belonged to the “Collectorum historiae et iuris patrii” society, he and Augustin von Balthasar published a pamphlet on Pomerania, which appeared in two copies in 1747 and 1756.
