Tomoko Igata

Tomoko Igata ( Japanese 井 形 と も 子 , Igata Tomoko ; born October 30, 1965 in Japan ) is a former Japanese motorcycle racer .

Tomoko Igata is the motorcycle racer who achieved the best placement and the most points so far in the 125 cc class of the motorcycle world championship . In 1995 she took seventh place in the class up to 125 cm³ at the Czech Grand Prix in Brno .

Igata competed in the motorcycle races of the Japanese Road Championship from 1991 to 1993 in the class up to 125 cm². In this championship she was regularly in the top ten. Her best result was in 1992, sixth place in the championship. This year she also made her first appearance in the motorcycle world championship. She started with a wildcard at her home Grand Prix in Suzuka and finished in 20th place.

In 1994 and 1995 Tomoko Igata took part in the World Championship on a Honda RS 125 for the FCC Technical Sports team . In 1994 she was replaced by Tomomi Manako after an injury at the Australian Grand Prix . She returned towards the end of the season and was still 28th in the championship.

1995 was her most successful year. At the Czech Grand Prix in Brno she finished seventh, the best result that women in this class have ever achieved. In the championship, the Japanese finished 20th overall, the best result for a woman in this class.

Then she switched back to the Japanese 125cc championship, but without further success.
