Ton de Ridder

Antonie "Ton" de Ridder (* July 1956 in the Netherlands ) is one of the most internationally renowned and successful dressage trainers.

At 19, de Ridder moved to Germany and worked as a rider for Paul Stecken in Münster . Later he worked for a few years as a trainer for Udo Lange. He now lives in Aachen .

Coach successes

His wife Alexandra won team gold at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney . De Ridder was national trainer for the Dutch Juniors and Young Riders , with whom he achieved very good results at the 2003 European Championships. The Spaniard Beatriz Ferrer-Salat finished third at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and has been coached by de Ridder since 2010. Daughter Jill won an individual gold medal at the 2007 European Junior Championships. In 2008 his Japanese student Hiroshi Hoketsu , at the age of 67 as the oldest participant, qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong , where he performed well.

At the Stuttgart German Masters 2009 he was honored as a trainer together with Jürgen Koschel and Klaus Balkenhol .

Private

He is married to the dressage rider Alexandra Simons-de Ridder , with whom he has two daughters. Both Jill de Ridder (* 1992) and Julia de Ridder (* 1996) participated as dressage riders in the European Championships for Juniors and Young Riders. He and his wife run the Roßheide farm near Aachen.
