Tony Doyle (born January 16, 1942 in Ballyfarnan , County Roscommon , Ireland , † January 28, 2000 in Lambeth , London , England ) was an Irish actor .

Life

Doyle was at the University College in Dublin trained. After graduating, he first played in theaters in Dublin before moving to London. In addition to theater engagements, he also took on film and television roles. He made his television debut in 1963; his feature film debut was in 1967 in a minor supporting role as Lt. Gardner in the Oscar- nominated James Joyce film adaptation of Ulysses . In 1970 he was on the side of Gene Wilder and Margot Kidder in the comedy Quackser Fortune has' nen cousin in the Bronx to see.

The British television audience knew him through his roles as John Deakin in the crime series Between the Lines and as Brian Quigley in the Irish series Ballykissangel .
