The top 12 2020 should be the 18th French team championship in women's chess . Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the competition was completely canceled, the start authorizations remained valid for the 2021 staging.

Defending champion is CEMC Monaco , from the National I were in the previous year Cercle d'Echecs de Strasbourg , the Club 608 d'échecs de Paris , Echiquier Domloupéen and Echiquier médocain from Lesparre-Médoc ascended.

The twelve participating clubs should initially have played a simple round-robin tournament from May 7th to 10th in two preliminary round groups of six teams each. The number of team points (3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, 1 point for a defeat, 0 points for a defeat without a fight) would first have decided on the placement, then the direct comparison, then the difference between winning and losing games and ultimately the number of winning games. The last two of each preliminary round would have been relegated to National I, while the first two would have qualified for the final round. This should be played on June 27th and 28th in the knockout system , whereby the third place would also have been played out.
