Top 12 2013/14

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Top 12 2013/14 was the 34th French team championship in chess .

The defending champion Club de Clichy-Echecs-92 became champions again. The Club de Montpellier Echecs , Les Tours de Haute Picardie and CE de Bois-Colombes had risen from Nationale I last year . While Montpellier and Bois-Colombes achieved relegation, Haute Picardie had to relegate together with CE de Rueil Malmaison . There was no third relegation, as the withdrawal of the Club de Marseille Echecs meant that the competition was only held with eleven teams and the usual league strength of twelve teams will be brought about again for the coming season. For the reported team squad see team squad of the top 12 2013/14 .

Game dates

The competitions were played centrally in Saint-Quentin from May 24th to June 3rd, 2014 .

Season course

After the first rounds, the Club de Clichy-Echecs-92 , the Club de Bischwiller and the Club de Mulhouse Philidor separated from the rest of the field. After Clichy defeated both competitors, they defended the previous year's title, although a draw against Évry Grand Roque was made in the further course of the season . In the relegation battle with two laps to go, Cercle d'Echecs de Strasbourg , Les Tours de Haute Picardie and CE de Rueil Malmaison were in danger. After Strasbourg won against Haute Picardie in the penultimate round, Haute Picardie and Rueil Malmaison were relegated early on.
