Top Zehn ( spelling : TopZehn ) was a German YouTube channel from Mediakraft . The channel presents top ten lists on various topics, mostly with the voice of Robert alias Rob Zehn .
Origin and production
The channel has existed since July 24, 2012 and represents the German counterpart to the AllTime10s channel , a format of the British production company Diagonal View. The author and host Rob Zehn works mainly on the English original, but own themes are also chosen, which specifically appeal to the German audience. Common material is also often used. Two episodes are currently being produced and published weekly.
In the first episodes the facts were only faded in; since the video “10 strange allergies”, Rob Zehn has been presenting the facts orally via voiceover. The reason for introducing an off-voice was that the German audience wanted to have a personality and a voice behind the videos with which they could identify.
Unlike most other YouTubers, Rob Zehn worked in television before starting his YouTube career. Among other things, he worked as a cameraman, editor and author in a production company that worked for various clients such as ZDF and Japanese television. Rob Zehn is also a trained voice actor. He studied television production at the Rügen Media Academy and described himself as probably the first full-time YouTuber in Germany.
In 2014, Top Ten was nominated for the web video award. In May 2014, Mediakraft expanded its cooperation with Diagonal View and launched the successful YouTube format TopZehn in Dutch, Polish and Russian. According to Broadmark.de, this was the first time that a YouTube format was available in five languages.
No new videos have been produced since the end of 2018.

As in the British original, the videos contain a lot of footage as well as varied graphics, animations and typography. The channel takes on many different topics: history, medicine, science fiction, science, wildlife, the bizarre, comedy, entertainment, food and drink, conspiracy theories, politics and society. Occasionally, current political issues are also included.
The most successful video on the channel is titled “The 10 Dumbest Deaths” and has already received over 5 million views.
