Gate of the kiss

The Gate of the Kiss ( Romanian Poarta sărutului) is a travertine sculpture by the Romanian sculptor and photographer Constantin Brâncuși .

The gate belongs to Brâncuși's sculpture ensemble from Târgu Jiu in Romania, which was created between 1935–38. The ensemble, which was commissioned by the Gorj Women's League in 1937/38 , also includes The Table of Silence and the Infinite Column . Couples kissing can often be photographed in front of the gate of the kiss . The work is intended to commemorate the fallen soldiers of the First World War .
