Tore Bjørgo (* 1958 ) is a Norwegian police scientist and university professor .

life and work

As early as 1983 Bjørgo accepted a study scholarship at the Norsk utenrikspolitisk institutt (German: Norwegian Institute for International Politics ). From 1987 he was employed here as a research assistant. Bjørgo obtained in 1987 the degree of candidatus rerum politicarum, cand. Polit. In anthropology awarded by the University of Oslo until 2007 . From 1991 to 1997 he worked at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, then from 1994 to 1997 specifically at the School voor Politie Leiderschap (German: School for Police Leadership ), which cooperates with the University of Leiden . He received his doctorate in 1997 in the social sciences department at Leiden University on racism and neo-fascism in Scandinavia . At the beginning of 2000 he took a job at the Politihøgskolen (German: Police College ) in Oslo . Here he worked from 2002 to 2005 in a working group on terrorism and international crime. In 2004 he was appointed professor of police science here. From 2005 to 2007 he worked as research director. At the university, he was responsible for the implementation of the master’s degree in Police Science.

His research interests include racism and neo-fascism, youth gangs and juvenile delinquency, and the field of terrorism.
