history
Tornos' roots go back to 1880, when the first machines for the production of small parts for the watchmaking industry were manufactured in Moutier . Among the entrepreneurs at that time was the Thurgau mechanic Nicolas Junker, who with his company Junker et Cie. Manufactured watch components and automatic machines and further developed the so-called Swiss lathe invented by Jakob Schweizer.
In 1904 Junker sold the troubled business to his son Emile, who had to file for bankruptcy in 1905. From this bankruptcy, the company Tornos emerged, which manufactured automatic lathes and was in competition with the company of Joseph Pétermann and André Bechler, a former apprentice of Junker. In 1914, Bechler founded his own company, which from 1924 also produced automatic lathes.
Tornos-Bechler emerged from the three companies Tornos, Pétermann and Bechler in 1974, which subsequently grew into today's corporate group.
Products
The company provides automatic spindle - automatic lathes , multi-spindle lathes and bar feeders ago. These are controlled by specially developed software and are used in the automotive industry, in medicine, in electronics, in the watch industry and in supply.
