from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Toronto Film Critics Association (TFCA) is an organization of film critics who work as journalists or broadcasters and come from Toronto, Canada . Since 1999 the TFCA has been a member of the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique (FIPRESCI), an international association of film critics and film journalists.

Every year the members meet to choose a winner in different categories for the Toronto Film Critics Association Award , which is presented every year in Toronto. The prizes were awarded for the first time on January 13, 1997. The nominees must be involved in films released in the same year of voting.

The TFCA presents the so-called Clyde Gilmour Award at irregular intervals . It goes to Canadians who, through their work, have generated understanding for the film and increased its reputation in their home country.
