Toronto Granites

The Toronto Granites were a Canadian Amateur - ice hockey team from Toronto in the province of Ontario .

In the seasons 1921/22 and 1922/23 the Granites won the Allan Cup , the Canadian amateur championship, with the players Harry Watson , Dunc Munro and Hooley Smith . Because they were considered the best amateur ice hockey team in Canada due to their success, they were selected as the Canadian national team for the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix , France . After victories over Czechoslovakia (30: 0), Sweden (22: 0) and Switzerland (33: 0), the Canadians also defeated Great Britain (19: 2) and the USA in the final round (6: 1), whereby the team won the gold medal.
