The Torre Allianz (Allianz Tower) in Milan is an office building and after the Torre Unicredit the second tallest skyscraper in the city and the country. In the vernacular, the tower is also known as Il thirdo ('the straight line') due to its “ falling ” architecture . The building has an architectural height of 209 meters, but the total height to the top of the attached telecommunications antenna is 249 meters. Most of the office space is used by the insurer Allianz SpA . The tower was planned by the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki and completed in 2015. The building took third place at the Emporis Skyscraper Award 2015. The glass fronts have an area of around 120,000 m². Due to the great susceptibility to the effects of wind due to the large frontal areas, the building requires four supporting pillars, which stabilize the building at the height of the 11th floor.
