Ferdi Miebach

Ferdi Miebach (born September 13, 1938 ) is a former German judoka and judo trainer.

Professional career

Miebach comes from Hamburg and is a qualified sports teacher and police officer in the Federal Border Guard (today Federal Police ). In Lübeck he taught sport, especially judo and jiu jitsu, at the Federal Border Guard School .

Athletic career

Miebach got enthusiastic about judo at an early age. In North Rhine-Westphalia he was successively city and state champion in judo. In 1958 he won the title of German Judo Police Master. After being transferred to the BGS school in Lübeck, he also achieved success in international competitions. In 1960 he was appointed to the German national team and took part in the European Judo Championships in Amsterdam . Meanwhile three times German judo champion, he became team European champion in 1967.

For obtaining this title, he and the German judo team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on June 23, 1967 .

Until 1977, the seven-time German champion coached the women's national team.

In addition, his home association, the Hamburg Judo Association, awarded him the Golden Badge of Honor on March 1, 1976.
