Torre Blanca

The Torre Blanca is a historic defense tower in the capital Seville of the autonomous region of Andalusia .

The White Tower, which is part of the fortress wall of Seville, was built in the time of the Almohads and was part of the defense system in the 12th and 13th centuries. According to historical records, the Torre Blanca was built by order of Sultan Ali ibn Yusuf ibn Tashfin . It was expanded in the 13th century.

In the period before the First Spanish Republic , the tower was largely destroyed in the "Glorious" Revolution of 1868 and then rebuilt in a different construction, but no longer plastered in white, as in the version that originally gave the tower its name. The Torre Blanca has remained unchanged since 1908 and is listed in the list of Bien de Interés Cultural as a cultural monument together with the city wall Murailles de Séville .
