The Torre de la Libertad (German: Freedom Tower) is a 62 m high tower in Bata , the largest city in Equatorial Guinea . It is located on the Paseo Marítimo , a wide promenade, in a square in front of the city's old port. It is a futuristic concrete version of the Eiffel Tower and is illuminated in the evening by various colorful light elements. The outer facade is clad with granite . A rotating restaurant with a capacity of up to 80 guests is located at a height of 25 m. The building was built by the construction company Horizon Construcción SA . The foundation consists of 189 driven piles with a diameter of 70 cm, which were sunk 18 m deep. The construction time was 32 months. The inauguration took place on October 12, 2011 , the country's 43rd independence day. Like its Parisian model, the tower has become the city's landmark.
