history

The tower was built in the 12th-13th centuries. Erected in the 18th century as a residential and defense structure for the influential Capocci family. It has housed a mint since the Middle Ages and was renovated in the 19th century. The tower is still inhabited today and serves as a workshop for the renowned artisan Luca Giampaoli. Due to the destruction of many family towers in the 13th century, the tower occupies a special position as one of the few remaining family towers.
