torsion
Torsion (derived from French and Latin ( torsio , late Latin from Latin torquere , tortum )) stands for facts that are related to a (twisting) twist:
- Twist (geometry) , the property of a space curve or surface to deviate from a plane or a convex shape
- Torsion (algebra) , the phenomenon that multiples of an element in a module can be zero
- in differential geometry a property of affine relationships, cf. Levi-Civita context

- Torsion (mechanics) , the effects of a force acting parallel to the base and tangential to the side of a body
- in medicine, the twisting of an organ around its own longitudinal axis
- Stem rotation , including testicular torsion and stomach torsion

- Eye movement around the sagittal axis (rolling)
- Torsion in biology: as in medicine, the twisting of an organ, for example in snails
- Torsion in architecture: a helically twisted or coiled building element, for example a column .
