Tour First (1974 Tour CB31 , 1974 to 1998 Tour UAP , 1998 to 2007 Tour Axa and 2007 to 2010 Tour Assur ) is the name of a skyscraper in the La Défense office district in the Paris suburb of Courbevoie . With a height of 225 meters (with antenna 231 meters), it has been the tallest building in France since 2011 , surpassing the Tour Montparnasse tower built in Paris in 1972 . It was built in 1974 by the insurance company Union des assurances de Paris under the name Tour UAP with a height of 159 meters. In 1996 the name was changed to Tour AXA after UAP was bought by Axa . In 2007, a comprehensive renovation of the high-rise began, with major changes in height and external appearance. The work was completed in 2011. The auditing company Ernst & Young has rented 17 of a total of 50 floors.

The office tower is connected to public transport in the greater Paris area with the Esplanade de la Défense metro station and La Défense train station.
