Traditor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term traditor (derived from Latin for traitor ) (sometimes also traditor battery if it was more than one gun in the same position) is an artillery system in a fortress that is hidden and not immediately recognizable by the attacker. The traditor (also known as space pranks) is primarily designed to artillery cover blind spots that cannot be reached by the main artillery due to the type of fortification or the nature of the terrain. In contrast to capons or trench strokes , which were designed for close combat , the Traditors were equipped with medium-caliber cannons (mostly 7.5 cm to 9 cm) that were effective at short to medium distances.
