Nicolai Dunger's eighth studio album was recorded between February 22nd and 28th, 2002 at Paul Oldham's Rove Studio in Shelbyville , a suburb of Louisville , Kentucky . The album title "Tranquil Isolation" is a quote from "Under The Volcano", a film by John Huston based on a novel by Malcolm Lowry . There is a scene in this film where Geoffrey Firmin, played by Albert Finney , says he would retire to the country in "quiet isolation".
