Transition (genetics)
Starting base | mutation | |
---|---|---|
A. | ↔ | G |
C. | ↔ | T |
In genetics, transition is a point mutation within a class of bases, e.g. B. a purine base is replaced by another purine base.
The other case would be a transversion when a purine base is replaced by a pyrimidine base or vice versa.
