The Trebgaster bathing lake is an artificially created bathing lake in the municipality of Trebgast in the district of Kulmbach , Bavaria. In the 18th century there were fish ponds of the Bayreuth margraves in the area .
location
The lake is about 1.5 kilometers southwest of the town of Trebgast. It is 680 meters long, 220 meters wide and up to 4.5 meters deep. It is fed by four springs located within the lake. There is a 7200 square meter island in the lake. The hiking trail surrounding it is 1500 meters long. The Trebgast River flows past in the northwest , into which the lake drains.
The lake was laid out from 1972 and was officially opened on June 12, 1975. The construction costs amounted to the equivalent of 1.5 million euros. Due to the low gradient of the Trebgasttal, the lake could not be dammed. Therefore, the boggy area was dug up and 250,000 cubic meters of soil had to be moved. In 2003 the lake was completely renovated.
Infrastructure
The visit to the fenced area is chargeable. At its northern end there is a beach kiosk and parking spaces. Further infrastructure is distributed around the lake. This includes play and sports facilities as well as changing rooms and showers. You can bring your own rubber boats and rubber animals, dogs are not allowed. The lake can also be reached by train (Trebgast train station is approx. 1000 meters away) and from Bayreuth via an asphalt bike path.
