Tressis

The tressis (lat. Tres, dt. Three) is a Roman bronze coin and corresponds to three times the value of an ace .

This coin was minted only twice during the time of the Roman Republic , the first time around the year 260 BC. BC , the second time around the year 215 BC. Chr. Both types were in Rome marked.

The token of this coin are three vertical bars, each of which represents the value of an ace. On the obverse there is a head of the goddess Roma looking to the right and the stamp. On the lapel of the older type you can see a wheel with six spokes and the stamp, on the younger type a prora and the stamp.

After the introduction of the denarius , this currency unit, which was cumbersome due to its size, was abolished.
