Tricinium

Tricinium ( Latin ) is a mostly contrapuntal piece of music for three voices.

The term comes from the 16./17. Century and was used as a method of composition mainly in Protestant Germany. There are both instrumental , vocal and a cappella pieces. It can be combined into a polyphonic form of music.
