As Triebkopf in vehicle is called a nichtkomplettiertes vehicle that will be built for further processing to the final product by another company. A power car usually has all the important vehicle components such as the engine, transmission, drive train, front axle, power take-off for hydraulics, vehicle electrics and fuel tank. Often a driver's cab is already set up.

Various parts can be attached to the power end; the pictures on the right show attachments for lifting and transporting containers.

German companies that process power heads into special vehicles include Ruthmann , Lesa, Eylert and Ries.

At the Unimog power unit production in Gaggenau, the finished power units were fitted with wooden emergency wheels so that they could drive from the factory to the loading ramp on their own axis.
