Trigeminal stimulus

The trigeminal stimulus is a stimulation of the trigeminal nerve , i.e. the facial nerve , which is responsible for reflecting the lower senses in the face ( i.e. the sense of touch and temperature ). Oral trigeminal stimuli include e.g. B. the astringency , the stinging of alcohol in the mouth, the cooling effect of peppermint or the burning of chilli. These are not taste impressions.
