tricot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Trikotagen ( French: tricoter 'knitting'), also outdated “tricot linen”, are textile products that are knitted or knitted or that have been made from previously knitted or knitted fabrics or tubes ( tricot ) by cutting and sewing or linking . By definition, jerseys are all knitted fabrics .

Due to their structure, jerseys are relatively elastic and adapt well to the body. To sew them, you need special sewing machines that can create elastic seams. Elastic jerseys tend to curl up at the edges, which can be prevented by special finishes such as steaming or pressing.

A distinction is made between upper and lower jersey days:

  • In Upper knitwear is, for example, dresses , skirts , blouses, shirts, gym clothes and Polo shirts and casual wear.
  • In sub knitwear is about to underwear or lingerie, sportswear and swimwear - usually so garments, under which it carries on anything.

Gloves and gaiters , however, are not jerseys .
