Trim knife
The trimming knife is used for so-called trimming , i.e. for plucking dead, but also certain healthy hair from the fur of dogs , but not for ordinary cutting and shearing . With long-haired or rapidly regrowing fur, the dog must be trimmed regularly. The trimming can be done in a dog salon .
The trimming knife is held in the hand so that the thumb rests on the cutting edge. The hair is now pressed onto the cutting edge with the thumb and pulled out in the direction of growth. If handled correctly, trimming is pleasant for the dog and feels like a massage. However, the dog must be used to trimming, preferably as a puppy.
Trimming knives are available with different teeth. Coarse and medium teeth are used for the top hair, fine teeth for the head and abdominal area. Various manufacturers also offer trimming knives for left-handers.
