The Arena Factory is a ice rink in the Czech town of Trinec . The hall, which opened in 1967, is now closed and until 2014 was the main venue for the extra league club HC Oceláři Třinec , an ice hockey team , and was replaced in 2014 by the newly built New Werk Arena ( Nova Werk Arena ). The arena can seat 5,200 spectators.
Before the construction of the artificial ice rink , ice hockey was played on frozen ponds and from 1945 onwards in a natural ice rink with a capacity of 12,000. In 1967, today's Arena factory was built as an open ice stadium with artificial cooling and in 1976 was given a steel roof. The roof was built by workers from the local steel works ( Trzynietzer Eisenwerk ) and with steel girders from the same company. The highest average attendance had the HC Oceláři Třinec in the 1997/98 season , when an average of 4,908 spectators followed the club's home games and the team reached the runner-up.
In 2016 the ice making in the old hall was finally stopped.
