Trinity & Beyond - The History of the Atomic Bomb (Original title: Trinity & Beyond - The Atomic Bomb Movie) is a documentary about the atomic bomb tests of the USA , Russia and China .

The film begins with the explosion of 100 tons of TNT to calibrate the gauges for the first Trinity atomic bomb . Then the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be dealt with, followed by Operation Sandstone , Operation Ranger and Operation Greenhouse . The first half of the film is over, and now the hydrogen bomb tests are reported. Operation Ivy , Operation Upshot-Knothole , Operation Castle are main themes in this part. Operation Wigwam , Operation Redwing and Operation Plumbbob follow . There is a report on the Tsar bomb and its drop, whereupon the US started Operation Dominic . The last US tests reported in the film are the altitude tests of Operation Hardtack and other tests in which the bombs were carried to great heights by rockets. After the treaty banning nuclear weapons tests in the atmosphere, in space and underwater in the USA, Russia and Great Britain , the film finally reports on China's first atomic bomb test, with which the film ends.

The first part, up to Operation Castle, is sometimes broadcast as "Atomic Bomb - Loss of Innocence".
