Triotar is a brand for a three-lens lens from Carl Zeiss .

Optical structure

Structurally, this corresponds Triotar the (Cookeschen-) triplet . Zeiss offered the Triotar as a simply constructed and inexpensive lens for inexpensive cameras. With the further developments of the triplet type Tessar (four lenses in three groups) and Sonnar (typically five lenses in four groups) Zeiss was able to offer much more powerful lenses, but also at higher prices.

use

The Triotar was used in the Rolleicord , the inexpensive version of the Rolleiflex and the inexpensive versions of the Rollei 35 (B, C, LED). There were also versions for Contax viewfinder cameras, with M42 and Exakta connections. Today it is still used in high-quality magnifying glasses.
