Tripelbauer is a term from chess . It means that there are three pawns from the same party on the same line . If they stand on the adjacent lines to the right and left without their own pawns, then one speaks of isolated triple pawns. Triple pawns are, so to speak, an increase in double pawns : Everything that applies to double pawns applies even more to triple pawns. Tripel farmers usually suffer from a certain weakness: They hinder each other's advance and can easily be attacked and conquered. The latter is especially true in the endgame and for isolated triple pawns. In rare cases, triple farmers can be strong by staying in their position and controlling important fields. As a rule, they are defeated by three pawns on different lines.
