Sascha Möbius

Sascha Möbius (born July 12, 1968 in Düsseldorf ) is a German historian .

From 1994 to 2001 he studied history and English in Hanover, Magdeburg and Göttingen. From 1997 to 1999 he received a research contract from the state of Saxony-Anhalt on the former remand prison of the Ministry for State Security at Moritzplatz in Magdeburg. In 2001 he completed his Magister Artium in Göttingen . From 2001 to 2003 he was a research assistant at the University of Potsdam . In 2003 he became a member of the editorial staff of the journal of the same name of the Working Group Military and Society in the Early Modern Age . He has been working as a freelance historian since 2004; he prepared u. a. Permanent exhibitions. He also became a lecturer at the Institute for History at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and the Helmut Schmidt University . In 2006 the doctorate followed ("Wars and unrest in the Lübeck chronistics and culture of remembrance of the late Middle Ages and the early modern times") with Hermann Wellenreuther at the historical seminar of. From 2006 to 2011 he was director of the Moritzplatz Magdeburg Memorial and from 2011 to 2015 of the Marienborn Memorial . His focus is on Prussian military history , urban culture of remembrance and the history of the GDR .
