Hussein Halawa

Hussein Mohammed Halawa ( Arabic حسين محمد حلاوة, DMG Ḥusain Muḥammad Ḥalāwa ; born 1956 in Cairo ) is an Islamic theologian of Egyptian origin and a figure of Islam in Europe . He is an Imam at the Islamic Cultural Center of Ireland (ICCI) and the current Secretary General of the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), the "European Council for Fatwa and Research", an organization of Islamic scholars affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood . Halawa studied at al-Azhar University in the Egyptian capital Cairo and at the International Islamic University in Islamabad , Pakistan . He is also Chairman of the Irish Council of Imams (ICI; Irish Council of Imams ).
