International Union of Muslim Scholars
The International Union of Muslim Scholars ( Arabic الاتحاد العالمي لعلماء المسلمين, DMG al-Ittiḥād al-ʿĀlamī li-ʿUlamāʾ al-Muslimīn , English International Union of Muslim Scholars ; IUMS) is an international pan-Islamic non-governmental organization whose founding conference took place in London in 2004 . The current general secretary is Ali al-Qaradaghi .
Its headquarters were at the Islamic Cultural Center of Ireland (ICCI) in Dublin and it was reportedly relocated to Qatar before May 2012 .
Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi is the president . Vice presidents are the Mufti of Oman Ahmed bin Hamad al-Khalili ( Ibadites ), Sheikh Abdullah bin bayya ( Sunnis , Maliki ), Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taschiri (Shiites), Ayatollah Muhammad Zadeh Wa'id Churasani (Shiites).
The general secretary was Mohamed Selim El-Awa (Sunnis) from 2004 to 2010 .
On November 15, 2014, the Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates published a list of 83 Islamic terrorist organizations, including the International Union of Muslim Scholars.
