The Triple Islands (from English loosely translated triple Islands ) are three small and tightly strung together rocky islands off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélielands . They are located immediately east of the tip of the Zélée glacier tongue and 600 m south-southeast of the Double Islands .
Aerial photos were taken during the US operation Highjump (1946–1947). Participants in a French Antarctic expedition, which lasted from 1949 to 1951, led by André-Franck Liotard (1905–1982) mapped it and named it Île Triple (French for triple island ). This designation was adapted in 1956 by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names .
