Tripod (blockade)

A tripod construction

A tripod is a construction of three long poles (mostly tree trunks ), which are connected in the upper part and thus erected into a simple three-legged tower. In the upper part people can hang themselves with the help of loops and straps.

Tripods are often used in actions of civil disobedience , especially in the environmental movement. They are considered a blockade that is difficult to remove and serve to protect against evacuation on surfaces, roads and rails when static alternatives such as trees are missing.

It was best known during road blockades in England. More recently, it has also been used frequently in Germany for Castor blockades or for the occupation of genetic plant fields.
